Другие события организатораBram Stoker's Dracula is the most screened novel ever written. It tapped into an undead pool of unconscious desires. They pertain to the bio and geo politics of Europe (the racial Other, the Jew, the Muslim), ambiguous gendering (Dracula the Vampire bites both ways), as well as to the newly developing media (telephone, telegraph, cinema). The lecture by Dragan Kujundzic will focus on two seminal essays to be distributed ahead of time, Judith Halberstam's "Technologies of M onstrosity: Bram Stoker's Dracula," and Friedrich Kittler's "Dracula's Legacy." References will be made to psychoanalysis and Sigmund Freud's essay "The Medusa Head," as well as to the various theories and philosophies of media and spectrality (Jacques Derrida). The students will be asked to watch Francis Ford Copolla's "Bram Stoker's Dracula" ahead of time and clips from the films will be used to illustrate the talk as well.
